Astelin Uses:
Astelin is a nasal spray medication prescribed to patients 12 years and older to treat runny nose, itching, and sneezing symptoms associated with seasonal and year round allergies, including hay fever.
Astelin Interactions:
Other medications may interact with Astelin or increase the risk of side effects. Discuss any medications, supplements or vitamins with your doctor before taking Astelin.
The following medications may interact with Astelin:
- Cimetidine
- Alcohol
Patients with a history or current diagnosis of any of following conditions should consult their doctor before treatment with Astelin:
- Kidney disease
- Allergies to medications similar to Astelin

Typical Dosage Recommendations
Patients should take Astelin exactly as prescribed by a doctor, as dosage recommendations differ for the treatment of various conditions.
Astelin is distributed as a nasal spray intended for twice a day use.
Prime your Astelin nasal spray by pumping it six times before initial use or until a fine spray comes out.
Missing a Dose of Astelin
If you miss a dose of Astelin, take it as soon as you remember. If you are within two hours of your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your normal dosage schedule. Do not take a double dose of this medicine.
Astelin Overdose
It is unlikely you will overdose while being treated with Astelin. However, if you feel you may have taken too much or begin to feel any negative side effects, consult your doctor immediately.
