Avalide Side Effects
The most common adverse reactions experienced by those taking Avalide include:
- Dizziness
- Fatigue
- Muscle pain
Patients should contact a doctor immediately following the onset of any adverse reactions to Avalide.
Serious side effects that may occur following Avalide use include:
- Jaundice
- Dry mouth
- Chest pain
- Swelling
- Unusual urination
- Drowsiness
- Fever
- Shortness of breath
- Rapid weight gain
Patients with anuria, a condition that occurs when less than 50 milliliters of urine are passed daily, should not take Avalide.
Those allergic to any of the ingredients in Avalide should not take the medication. Patients with hypersensitivity to sulfonamide-derived drugs should also refrain from taking Avalide.
Pregnant women should not take Avalide, as the medication may cause severe harm or death to a fetus.
Inform your doctor of any preexisting medical conditions prior to beginning treatment with Avalide. Patients should take extra care to mention the following conditions, as a doctor may have special recommendations or advise against the use of Avalide in certain situations:
- Liver disease
- Renal disease
- Impaired hepatic function
Discuss the use of potassium supplements with your doctor before taking Avalide.
Patients taking Avalide should generally not take medications containing lithium.
Patients should avoid alcohol consumption when taking Avalide.
