Celebrex Description: 

Celebrex belongs to a group of drugs known as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications and is used to treat arthritis. In arthritic patients, deterioration of the cartilage that protects joints leads to inflammation. Celebrex works by inhibiting this natural inflammatory response and reducing the pain associated with it.

Celebrex Uses: 

Celebrex is used to treat painful symptoms of a wide variety of arthritic conditions, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. Celebrex may also be used to treat menstrual pain. In patients with familial adenomatous polyposis, Celebrex may be used alongside other medical procedures to decrease the presence of intestinal polyps.

Patients should speak with their doctor about the use of any medications, vitamins or supplements before taking Celebrex.

The following medications may adversely interfere with Celebrex:

  • ACE inhibitors
  • Angiotensin II antagonists
  • Aspirin
  • Blood thinners
  • Fluconazole
  • Furosemide
  • Lithium
  • Methotrexate
  • Other NSAIDs
Celebrex Dosage Information: 

Typical Dosage Recommendations

Celebrex dosages may vary among patients. Your doctor will establish the size and frequency of your dosage depending upon your individual needs. It is important to follow the dosage guidelines established by your doctor.

Patients may not necessarily maintain a regular dosage schedule, as Celebrex is often taken as needed. However, many patients taking Celebrex for the treatment of arthritis generally take a dose of 100 – 200 mg once or twice per day.

Celebrex is administered as an oral tablet and can be taken with or without food.
