Femara Side Effects
Side effects associated with the use of Femara include:
- Hot flashes
- Night sweats
- Joint pain
- Weight gain
- Nausea
- Bone fractures
- Fatigue
- Heart-related problems
- Swelling
- Dizziness
- Constipation
- Increase in cholesterol
- Headache
Less common side effects include:
- Vaginal bleeding
- Blood clots
- Osteoporosis
- Stroke
- Heart attack
- Endometrial cancer
- Other cancers
Contact a doctor immediately at the onset of any adverse reactions to Femara.
Inform your doctor of any preexisting medical conditions prior to beginning Femara treatments. Take special care to mention the following medical issues:
- Liver disease
- Scarring of the liver, poor liver function (Cirrhosis)
Premenopausal women should not take Femara.
Femara should not be taken when pregnant, as the medication may cause hard to a fetus.
Do not take Femara if you are allergic to letrozole or any ingredients in the medication.
Some patients may experience an increase in cholesterol when taking Femara.
Do not drive, operate heavy machinery or engage in potentially dangerous activity until you know how your will respond to Femara treatment. Some patients may feel dizzy or less alert after taking Femara.
