Typical Dosage Recommendations
Haldol dosages may vary among patients. Your doctor will establish the size and frequency of your dose according to your individual needs.
Haldol is administered by a health care professional via intramuscular injection. Acutely agitated schizophrenic patients usually receive 2 to 5 mg of the medication. Depending upon patient response, additional doses may be given at four to eight hour intervals.
Patients receiving Haldol injections are typically transferred to oral therapy as soon as possible.

Because Haldol is administered by a health care professional, the risk of an overdose event is relatively low. However, patients should seek immediate medical attention if they have received too much of this medication.
