Kadian Side Effects
Common side effects of Kadian treatment include:
- Anxiety
- Constipation
- Dizziness
- Drowsiness
- Nausea
- Vomiting
Notify your doctor immediately if any of the following serious side effects of Kadian are experienced:
- Confusion
- Dizziness
- Feeling faint
- Slowed breathing
Kadian is not for occasional, “as needed” use. Kadian is not for the treatment of postoperative pain, or pain experienced in the first 12-24 hours after surgery.
Do not stop taking Kadian without talking with your doctor first.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, as you may not be advised to start treatment with Kadian.
Kadian is not for use in patients with any of the following conditions:
- Allergy to morphine
- Bowel obstruction or other severe bowel problems
- Severe asthma or other breathing problems
Be sure to talk to your doctor if you have any of the following preexisting conditions, as your dosage with Kadian may need to be changed or you may not be able to take the medication:
- Adrenal gland problems including Addison’s disease
- Hallucinations
- Head injury
- History of drug addiction, substance abuse, or alcoholism
- Liver or kidney problems
- Low blood pressure (hypotension)
- Lung problems
- Seizures
- Severe mental problems
- Use of monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors in the past 14 days
Do not consume alcohol while taking Kadian.
Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery while taking Kadian until you know how the medication will affect your body.
