Levitra Side Effects
Common side effects reported with Levitra use include:
- Flushing
- Headache
- Nausea
- Indigestion
- Dizziness
- Stuffy or runny nose
Less common side effects include:
- Abdominal pain
- Back pain
- Changes in vision
- Eye pain
- Facial swelling
- Fast heartbeat
- Itching
- Low blood pressure
- Muscle pain
- Priapism (painful erection lasting more than four hours)
- Rash
- Sensitivity to light
In rare cases, Levitra may cause damage to penile tissue, leading to permanent impotence and inability to have an erection.
Other rare, but serious, side effects that have been reported with Levitra use include:
- Heart attack
- Sudden hearing loss, sometimes accompanied by ringing in the ears (tinnitus) and dizziness
- Sudden vision loss
- Changes in color vision (difficulty seeing the difference between blue and green, or a blue tint to your vision)

Before beginning treatment with Levitra, tell your doctor about any preexisting conditions you may have, including:
- Bleeding conditions or blood conditions such as sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, or leukemia
- Deformed penis or Peyronie’s disease
- Family members with long QT syndrome, a rare heart condition
- Heart problems, including chest pain (angina), heart failure, irregular heartbeat, or a history of heart attack
- History of seizure
- History of stroke
- Kidney problems
- Liver problems
- Past episodes of sudden vision loss or non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION)
- Past experience with an erection lasting longer than four hours
- Retinitis pigmentosa, a rare genetic eye disease
- Stomach ulcers
- Uncontrolled low or high blood pressure
Levitra should not be used by patients who have been told by a doctor that they should not have sexual activity due to health problems.
