Limbitrol is a combination antidepressant and tranquilizer medication prescribed to treat moderate to severe depression caused by anxiety and tension. Limbitrol is a combination of chlordiazepoxide, anti-anxiety drug, and amitriptyline, an antidepressant.

Typical Dosage Recommendations
Dosage depends on the patient's health and the condition being treated. Limbitrol is generally prescribed as one tablet taken 3 or 4 times per day.
Missing a Dose of Limbitrol
If you miss a dose of Limbitrol, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and wait to return to your regular dosing schedule.
Limbitrol Overdose
Seek emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of this medication, as an overdose or a combination of this medication with alcohol may result in death. Signs of overdose include confusion, sleepiness, lessened reflexes, and coma.

Risk of Suicide/Depression
There is a Black Box warning on Limbitrol regarding a possible increase in suicidal thoughts and behavior noted when the medication is used in children, teenagers, and young adults with depression. Patients who initiate treatment on antidepressants should be carefully monitored for signs of worsening depression, suicidal tendencies, or unusual changes in behavior.
