Possible side effects of Mestinon treatment include:
- Muscle cramps
- Muscle twitching
- Skin rash
- Vision problems
- Weakness
Things to Know, Precautions, Things to Ask Your Physician:
Mestinon is not recommended to be used in patients with any of the following conditions:
- Allergy to pyridostigmine, bromides, or other medications
- Asthma
- Difficulty urinating
- Heart disease
- Intestinal or urinary obstruction
- Irregular heartbeat
- Kidney disease
- Overactive thyroid
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Seizures
- Ulcers
Mestinon tablets should be stored away from moisture, as the tablets readily retain moisture and can become discolored and crumbled.
A lower dosage of Mestinon may be required in patients with kidney disease.
