Rituxan Side Effects

The following side effects have been associated with Rituxan:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting

If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding consult your doctor before taking Rituxan. Call your doctor if you become pregnant while being treated with Rituxan.

Do not drive a car or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert until you know how Rituxan will affect you. Do not drink alcohol while being treated with Rituxan. Patients may want to call a friend or relative to drive them home after receiving their Rituxan treatment.

Receiving a dose of Rituxan make take up most of your day depending on how you respond to treatment. After the first dose, the reception of Rituxan may progress quickly.

After the first dose of Rituxan, patients may experience a fever, shaking, chills, tiredness, headache or nausea. Consult your doctor if you experience any of these symptoms.

What to Avoid When Taking the Drug: 

Rituxan may make patients more susceptible to infection. To avoid infection, be sure to wash your hands often and avoid people who may be sick.

If you are being treated with Rituxan, take extra caution to avoid anyone who has received a live vaccine recently.  If you cannot avoid these people, be sure to wear a protective face mask that covers the nose and mouth.
