Typical Dosage Recommendations

U-Cort dosages may vary among patients. Your doctor will establish the size and frequency of your dosage according to your individual needs. It is important to follow the guidelines established by your doctor.

U-Cort is administered in the form of a topical cream or ointment. Patients usually apply a thin film of medication on the affected area of skin two to four times per day, depending on the severity of the condition.

U-Cort should not be applied to the face, underarms, eye area, or groin region unless otherwise instructed by a doctor.

The use of bandages on the U-Cort application site may be recommended in some patients with psoriasis or difficult-to-treat skin conditions.

Missing a Dose of U-Cort

If you forget to apply a dose of U-Cort, do so as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next scheduled application, skip the missed dose and wait to return to your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply a double dose of U-Cort to make up for a missed dose.

U-Cort Overdose

Seek emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of this medication. An overdose of U-Cort may cause excessive absorption to the extent that systemic effects result.

U-Cort Recall/Black Box Warning Information:

There is currently no Black Box warning on U-Cort.

Other Warnings

U-Cort, like other corticosteroid medications, can cause adrenal gland complications. The use of corticosteroid medications may reduce the body's natural ability to produce adrenal hormones, resulting in a corticosteroid deficiency that may not be immediately recoverable when the medication is no longer in use. Pediatric patients and patients who are applying U-Cort to larger body areas are at a particularly high risk of developing these types of complications.
