Dr. Geralyn Dexter is a licensed mental health counselor and assistant professor of psychology at Colorado Technical University. She also serves as faculty lead and psychology instructor at Southern New Hampshire University and sits on the Medical Expert Board for Verywell Health.

Dr. Dexter earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Florida, her Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University, and her Doctorate in Psychology from National University. With nearly 15 years of clinical and leadership experience, she has provided compassionate, evidence-based mental health treatment in diverse settings, including community clinics, intensive outpatient programs, private practice, telehealth and mental health startups.

Her research focuses on suicidal ideation and behavior as well as non-suicidal self-injury. In 2024, she presented a poster on emotional responses to suicidality disclosures at the American Association of Suicidology’s annual conference. Dr. Dexter’s publications include work on guided self-help interventions and motivational enhancement therapy. Her expertise has been featured in Sage Publications, GoodRx, Verywell Health, Mental Health America and other respected outlets.
