Dr. David Castain, PhD, MPS, is a Doctor of Psychology and Behavioral Health Scientist with expertise in psychology, medical sociology and public health. He combines advanced academic research with culturally informed strategies to address the complex factors that influence mental health and wellness. His work examines how societal systems, cultural traditions and medical practices including approaches to medications and therapeutic interventions shape individual and community health outcomes.
Dr. Castain earned his PhD in Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology after doctoral training in Sociology and Medical Sociology at Howard University. He also holds a master’s degree in Corporate Communications from Georgetown University and a bachelor’s degree from Howard University. He has studied the global impact of cultural and regulatory frameworks on mental health in more than 60 countries providing him with a unique perspective on how policies, marketing and treatment approaches influence behavioral health and patient experiences worldwide.
In addition to his clinical and research background Dr. Castain is the founder and Chief Wellness Officer of the David Castain Foundation which promotes mental health education, resilience and health equity through community-based programs. He is also the founder of David Castain & Associates, a consulting firm that advises global organizations on creating clear, ethical and inclusive messaging that aligns with psychological best practices. He has been featured by TEDx, Forbes, Rolling Stone, Newsweek, Entrepreneur and other major outlets for his contributions to behavioral health and wellness advocacy.
Dr. Castain’s clinical experience includes providing therapy for individuals and groups with conditions such as anxiety, depression, addiction and personality disorders. He integrates evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and solution-focused techniques to help clients improve resilience, manage emotional challenges and navigate life transitions.
