Does Getting a Case Review Mean I Have To Hire You As My Lawyer?

Oftentimes people are concerned when they’re speaking to an attorney as soon as they talk to that attorney, that’s their attorney for life, for any issues they have. The reality is you should be interviewing your attorney just like the attorney should be interviewing potential clients, and you should make sure that you feel comfortable that this is the attorney you want representing you in the trenches when things go right and when things go wrong. You should be understanding their experience, their personality, their capabilities, what other types of similar litigations and similar people they’ve represented. If at the end of that case review you’re not comfortable that this is the attorney right for you, you should feel very comfortable saying, I’m going to look at my choices and understand that I have the right to go look for other attorneys. Maybe you’ll speak to other attorneys and decide to come back to that first one. But again, it’s a process where you have to understand that this is the person representing you for what may be a multi-year process that will be very complicated, and you have to feel comfortable that you have made the right choice and chosen the right attorney for you.
