How Medical Experts Help Build a Legal Case

My firm typically won’t get involved in any litigation unless myself or my partners sit down with experts in the field and walk through studies that have been published related to injuries and certain drug use and have them explain how real that link really is. Because a lot of times you’ve got these studies out there that are solely academic, and it’s a link that may or may not exist. It might not be statistically significant. But to sit down with experts in the field on any case that we’re dealing in and have them explain that to us on the front end is extremely helpful. So that’s invaluable if you’re gonna get involved in any these litigations. Beyond that, once you get into the litigation, we spend a lot of time with experts, and having them look at specific individual cases, to identify whether or not they believe there is a credible link between whatever product it was, whether it’s a medical device or a drug, and the related injury. And then beyond that, having them testify as an expert in the litigation on behalf not only of an individual, but on behalf of an entire class of injured individuals.
