Dr. Joseph Palermo graduated from Temple University and entered medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1975. He completed his internship and residency at the Detroit Osteopathic/Bi-County Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He became board-certified in internal medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine in 1982. He was board-certified in geriatric medicine in 1991. He was also awarded a fellowship by the American College of Osteopathic Internists in 1991.

Dr. Palermo has been certified by the Federal Aviation Administration as a senior aviation medical examiner since 1992. He holds a master’s degree in business administration from the Michael G. Foster School of Business at the University of Washington. He holds multiple state licenses and has been chief of staff and chairman of several hospital committees.

He has also served as the medical director of several nursing homes and hospice programs. Dr. Palermo belongs to numerous professional societies, serving in various capacities and has experience in nursing home administration, hospice care, utilization review, quality assurance, medical education and teaching and consultation activities for both private and governmental agencies. Dr. Palermo has been in private practice in internal medicine in Seattle since 1979.
