Steven Powell, MSN, APRN, NP-C is a board-certified family nurse practitioner who specializes in pediatric developmental-behavioral health.
He earned his Master of Science with a major in Family Nurse Practitioner specialization from Purdue University Global in 2019. He continues to advance his knowledge, skill and expertise as an advanced practice health care provider in his current doctoral studies at Florida Gulf Coast University, where he is set to graduate with his Doctor of Nursing Practice in May 2025.
His education and training focused on the health of individuals from pediatric to geriatric ages, including women’s reproductive health.
He began his career in the intensive care unit. Powell was presented with a Daisy Award for extraordinary nurses during his time as a Surgical ICU Registered Nurse at Winter Haven Hospital, BayCare. There, he obtained clinical nurse II status on the clinical ladder and gained experience with intubated patients, post-surgical patients, titration of IV medications and CRRT.
He further developed his clinical skills as a Medical/Cardiac ICU RN at Health Park Medical Center, where he served as a charge nurse and handled cardiac interventions, post-cardiac arrest and STEMI.
His passion for children’s health led him to a career as a nurse practitioner in pediatric primary care. He worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Cepero Pediatrics for several years prior to subspecializing in pediatric developmental-behavioral health.
Within this subspeciality, he focuses more closely on children’s development. As a Developmental-Behavioral Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at Lee Health, he evaluates, diagnoses, and manages pediatric patients who have developmental delays, learning disabilities, behavioral challenges and autism spectrum disorder.
