Yaz Stroke

Women taking Yaz have reported various side effects following the use of the oral contraceptive, including stroke and other serious cardiovascular problems.

A stroke occurs when blood supply to the brain is interrupted, preventing the brain from receiving adequate amounts of blood and oxygen. Treatment with Yaz is linked to an increased risk of blood clots, such as those that occur in the brain during a stroke.

Risk Factors

The risk of a experiencing stroke while taking Yaz is increased in women 35 years of age or older, and those who smoke heavily (15 cigarettes or more a day).

  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Loss of coordination
  • Decreased vision
  • Sudden, severe headache
